S.A.W. Health Movement
KADA, Inc members champions sustainable agricultural practices, land conservation, and community recreation with a focus on improving land stewardship, air, and water quality. A dedicated group of members advocates for policy reform to promote better environmental practices, ensuring healthier ecosystems and communities. Through their efforts, they aim to establish the S.A.W. Health Movement (Soil, Air, Water), which addresses the critical interconnection between these elements and human health. (S.A.W. Soil Erosion Prevention
Soil Erosion Prevention focuses on reducing soil erosion, mitigating sinkholes, and implementing buffer zones in agricultural landscapes. This initiative emphasizes using conservation practices like riparian buffers, and cover cropping to prevent soil degradation and protect water quality.
Biochar Initiative
The initiative aims to support Kentucky farmers by providing biochar as a soil amendment to enhance soil fertility, improve crop yields, and sequester carbon, promoting sustainable agriculture. The project offers incentives to farmers and covers material costs for those who qualify.
Watershed Initiative
Watershed Initiative is designed to improve water quality and ecosystem health, with a focus on cleaning up watersheds, especially in urban areas. This initiative addresses issues like waste accumulation, invasive species, and pollution affecting waterways.
Ralph Bunch Community Project
The Ralph Bunch Community Project takes a comprehensive, holistic approach to revitalizing the historic Ralph Bunche site in Glasgow, Kentucky. This project integrates community development, food security, education, and economic opportunity by establishing a USDA-registered People’s Garden, creating value-added products, and fostering agri-tourism. With a focus on sustainability and inclusivity, the project engages local schools in cooperative programs, and new partnerships.
Women Leading Conservation
Women Leading Conservation Initiative is a program focused on empowering and elevating the role of women in conservation. It highlights the leadership of women in implementing sustainable agricultural practices, conservation techniques, and environmental stewardship. Through workshops, networking events, and mentorship, the initiative supports women farmers, conservationists, and environmental advocates in historically underserved communities.
